What happens when two local teens block off a school street? A theatrical show unfolds, where local high fashion and rap culture collide in an unprecedented way. The event is curated by Oliver Ahlmark, who—in his short career—has already staged his own fashion show at the Helsinki Olympic Stadium. Oliver has also designed costumes for artists, such as Sara Siipola for the 2025 Provinssi Festival and JVG for the 2026 Emma Awards.

The evening’s program begins at 8:40 p.m. with a musical performance by Cordie, followed by the fashion show and a performance by PiDe.

Fashion designer Oliver Ahlmark has designed a collection for the show, drawing inspiration from Seinäjoki—both its culture in general and his own youth. Stylistically, the collection features street-style formal wear with large trains. Strong historical references blend with street fashion and French couture. The garments also feature an abundance of chains and ropes, symbolizing how people in South Ostrobothnia may at times feel bound by certain norms. These bound chains and ropes concretely highlight just how oppressive such structures can actually feel. The materials for the collection were sourced in collaboration with the Seinäjoki Recycling Center.

PiDE

PiDE, also known as Risto Jokiranta, is in charge of the event’s music. The show’s music brings together many of Seinäjoki’s rap talents. Musically, PiDE draws inspiration from traditional hip-hop but has been breaking genre boundaries since the beginning of his career. He is known for actively performing throughout Southern Ostrobothnia, where he has had a significant impact on the local rap scene, having already released three full-length albums and currently working on his next one.

The upcoming album has been specifically curated with the upcoming performance in mind. Behind the scenes are producers from Seinäjoki as well as other talented local artists. The central theme and inspiration for the album is the influence of fashion on music and how fashion and music go hand in hand. The album will be filled with powerful emotions, most notably melancholy, energy, and strength. It portrays a person on the brink of change and the fluctuating state of mind that comes with it.

The name of Arthoteque’s mini-exhibition is Enso. Enso is a kind of mental drawing exercise. It can be drawn with any materials. Explore the exhibition, meet this month’s featured artist Seppo Tanninen, and draw an enso in the air or on paper!

The fascinating relationship between poetry and music flourished during the Baroque era, when words and melodies were inseparable. In this musical lecture, Baroque cellist Tähti Oksanen explores how music intertwined with text in the 1600s and 1700s. The relationship between text and music will be examined through sonnets, Neapolitan Baroque songs, and Bach’s sacred and secular music.

The open opening for the exhibition Forms of Heritage will be held at Exhibition Space Vintti. Köykkä’s solo exhibition features new large-scale paintings, an installation, and videos. In the exhibition, the boundary between painting and the architecture of the space becomes blurred. In his works, Köykkä explores what constitutes his visual heritage. A painting can inherit the form of the past.

You’re welcome to come alone or with friends for a longer visit, or even just to pop in for a moment. Come spend a relaxed Friday evening surrounded by art—no prior experience with art exhibition openings is necessary. A warm welcome to all!

18:00 & 19:00 Puppet show: The Star Trail of the Autumn Forest

The show tells the story of a group of forest animals on an adventure through the autumn forest. As they hop through piles of leaves, they meet some new friends who are very small and very shy—and very sparkly. Suddenly, the velvety darkness of an autumn night descends upon the forest; home is far away, and just as the friends think they are hopelessly lost, they realize that the Star Trail leads them home.

The story explores courage, friendship, a little bit of fear, and the importance of pursuing one’s dreams. In addition to puppet theater, the production features shadow theater. Each performance is in Finnish language and lasts 30 minutes. Suitable for the whole family.

The South Ostrobothnian Country Project brings bluegrass and more modern country music—including songs by The Chicks—to Kalevan Navetta. The band’s lead vocalist is Anne Vihelä, who enjoyed great success on The Voice of Finland, and the musicians include some of South Ostrobothnia’s hottest country talents: Piia Kleemola (violin and vocals), Juha Kullas (mandolin, guitar, dobro), Timo Kiprianoff (banjo, guitar), and Esa Korja (double bass).

Kivirikko House in Search of Its Memories – Open House

What has Kivirikko House witnessed over nearly a century? Built in 1932 as the home of the chief physician, Kivirikko House has been part of life in the old hospital district for decades. People have lived, worked, visited, played, and spent their childhoods in this house. And now, nearly a hundred years later, the old house is once again full of life. Today, the house serves as Family Center Kivirikko, a gathering place for children, youth, and families maintained by the Seinäjoki local chapter of MLL.

On t4th of September, we’re opening the house’s doors to everyone—and we especially invite those who have memories of the Kivirikko house or life in the old hospital area.

Have you ever been to this house before? Do you know anyone who has lived or worked here? Did you play in the yard or visit the house as a child?

MLL Seinäjoki also has a local history stretching back over a century. If your own memories include MLL Seinäjoki’s activities from years or decades ago, please come and share them with us as well. During the evening, you can explore the house and its current life, sit down for a cup of coffee, and, above all, share your own memories and stories. Old photographs and other mementos related to the Kivirikko building, the hospital area, or the history of MLL Seinäjoki are also warmly welcome—please feel free to bring them along to share.

We’ll be hosting a peaceful evening of getting to know each other and reminiscing. The house won’t be open for games as usual; instead, we’ll pause together to reflect on the stories, memories, and history of the Kivirikko House.

Seinäjoen Kaksiriviset

Seinäjoen Kaksiriviset is a folk music ensemble with over 20 members, now celebrating its 28th year of performing. Since 2013, it has been led by Riina Sakala from Seinäjoki. The group’s founder is Master Folk Musician Airi Hautamäki, M.Mus., from Alavus.

This enthusiastic folk music ensemble primarily performs traditional Finnish folk music on two-row accordions, but also on single-row accordions and with vocals. Their repertoire also includes compositions written in the same style (including some by foreign composers). Other instruments in the ensemble include bass, harmonica, mandolin, and percussion.

The group features five Finnish Folk Music Masters on the two-row accordion, as well as the winner of the Finnish Mandolin Championship. In 2006, the ensemble was the official band for the Eteläpohjalaiset Spelit festival. The musicians range in age from 10 to 85 years old.

Samuli Korpi

Samuli Korpi is a contemporary folk musician who composes and performs his music primarily on diatonic accordions with few rows. He does not hold back on the bellows during performances, and he strives to make the most of the instrument’s distinctive feature—its ability to produce different pitches—whenever the opportunity arises.

What happens when a relationship has become completely deadlocked over the years, arguments go round and round in circles, the husband won’t speak, and the wife has all the more to say? It’s time for couples therapy!

What’s needed is a couples therapist whose methods surprise and unsettle the quarreling couple. After all, both are convinced that the other is to blame for everything. The further the session progresses, the more the conversation veers off track, old grudges resurface, and the situation becomes increasingly chaotic—in a hilarious way. And to top it all off, the therapist seems to have plenty of problems of his own to share.

Mieletön metodi is a hilarious comedy written by Austrian author Daniel Glattauer—a fast-paced and perceptive portrayal of a romantic relationship, full of insightful dialogue, relatable situations, and liberating laughter. The play serves as a humorous reminder that while there’s no such thing as a perfect relationship, there’s always room for change.

Are you looking for a breather from your daily routine—but in beautiful light and with a camera in hand? Join us for a photography walk that combines nature, mindfulness, and heightened observation!

Photography can easily get pushed aside by the hustle and bustle of daily life when your mind is full of things to do. On this walk, you’ll be permitted to stop and turn your gaze toward what often goes unnoticed. Mindfulness exercises open your senses and help you see your surroundings in a new way—as light, color, and details. As the rush subsides, your photos will become more vivid and meaningful.

We’ll stroll peacefully through the Piiri landscape, stopping to sense, observe, and take photos—one moment at a time. A shared photography theme and small exercises will help open your eyes and awaken your powers of observation.

Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced photographer, all you need to bring is a camera or smartphone, weather-appropriate clothing, and an open mind. Come along and discover new ways of seeing familiar surroundings—no registration required!

On Friday, September 4, an exhibition by Jaana Erkkilä and Ritva Kangas will open. The opening reception is taking place from 18:00 to 20:00. The artists’ studios will have an open house all evening, offering a chance to see the environments in which art is created and the different working methods of the various artists.

In the courtyard of the Varikkogalleria, Emppu Wahlroos & co (collaborating artists to be announced later) will be creating graffiti on plywood panels throughout the event. Small canvas panels will also be attached to the plywood, allowing visitors to take home “pieces” of the artwork for a small fee. Come watch the graffiti painting—there will be casual conversation and relaxed painting.

The event combines an exhibition, opportunities to meet artists, and collaborative creation. The program is suitable for all ages and is free of charge.
